Lady, The Painting and Invincible

Alright guys this is an update.

Admiral’s Lady: Ashes for Ashes, Blood for Blood, has been up for a while now and she’s selling very well for a novella. Not nearly as well as a mainline novel but it beat my expectations so far. Thank you for all your help and support.

Also I just handed in a 133k 1st draft of The Painting – Book 2 of Rise of the Witch Guard. Where in Falon has to march off to war again! I’ll probably be adding some chapters in after the Brother takes a look at things but on the whole I have to say I’m pretty pleased with it. I had a marathon 25k in two days write-a-thon. 12k the first day and 13k the second. AS I’d missed my self imposed march 1st dead line for no good reason that I can com up with other than seer unadualted laziness I wanted to hit my new April 1st deadline and boy did I ever.

Also my internet’s been down for the past 2 weeks and the neighbor’s wi-fi is just almost out of range and pretty spotty.

Finally for those series fans who are interested I’ve just started pounding away on Admiral Invincible, the next book in the Spineward Sectors series, immediately following Revenge. It seems that the neighboring Sectors 23 and 24 are having a small problem with a 3 pronged Droid Invasion and if something isn’t done about it sooner or later, those mechanical chickens will come home to roost in Sector 25, Jason’s native stomping grounds. He has to make the choice does he clean up shop at home first thus imperiling dozens of words and millions or billions of innocent lives in those other sectors. Or does he put the Sector Assembly, Capria and their villanous allies on hold to fester in silence and the shadows yet again.

Find out what happens in the next installment of the Spine ward sectors. LOL.

I started with about 5.5k from the stuff I’d written for sneak peak and partially finished chapter after it and am currently 9k into the book.

Hope you enjoy the books that are out so far, the one in the pipeline when it comes out and the latest mainline ‘Invincible’ when it comes out!

Can’t wait! My other favorite series has been pushed back from an April release to May 🙁 so I’m thinking I’ll have both admiral and frontier to read at around the same time! Excited for both.

thanks everybody. Well as far as an ETA. Its in the hands of my brother and he’s more than half way through his middleton spineward sectors spin off. For the lost patrol that headed over to patrol the border with sector 24 and that came back at the end of Revenge. My best guess would be the end of next month for The Painting and probably within a week or two of that one, either way, my brother’s Middleton Patrol book comes out.

Ok, so I’m running a free promo for Joined at the Hilt: Union starting sometime tomorrow, if my clock is correct. Amazon’s system says it should happen on the 10th of April, so the only variable is that my Amazon account might be set for Philippines time rather than USA.

So if you haven’t yet picked up a copy, take a peek! I’m just looking for some honest reviews of the book, so if fantasy is your thing, give it a whirl 🙂

And as for anyone who’s left me a review of Joined at the Hilt (read: Kitten and Mike N.) if you’re interested in some more fantasy material give me a shout. I’ve got roughly three books of material completed in another series called the Cobalt Heresy, and I’d like to figure out a way to thank you guys for helping with the launch of my other book!

    Hi Vamen,

I think I just missed the promo, damm! Please let me know if any such promotion is planned in near future as I would definitely like to read your first book.

I have read all your brother’s work, who has become one of my favorite Sci-Fi authors. I am really curious how your writing will turn out.

Caleb, I was more than happy to help, ‘Joined at the Hilt’ was a great book. I’d be willing to take a read of Cobalt Heresy. I’ll try to work out how to hit you up via Pacific Crest.

Archit: I sent a reply to your request on the PCP site. You should be good to go on there!

Mike N.: Thanks for the kind words 🙂 See if you can login to the PCP site and send me a message. Worst case you can apply for beta status there on Between White & Grey, which is the follow-on/origins story for Joined at the Hilt, and I can then forward my email address to you. I can email you copies of the Cobalt stuff I’ve got so far; it’s a different story in a different setting, but I think it’s a pretty epic story.

Archit: Thanks for the heads up on the issue. I had my guys take a look and fix it, and I’d very much appreciate if you take another shot and let me know if you run into any more issues. I logged in via a few different accounts and didn’t have any problems after the fix was implemented.

Again, thanks a lot for the heads up.

Hey Kitten, if you’re lurking, would you mind giving me your input on the latest cover(s)? The one for ‘Union’ is updated on the Amazon site, and I changed the one for the novella, ‘Between White and Grey’ on the publishing site. I’d be really grateful for your input.

Sorry, I have been busy learning a new game engine and haven’t had the time to go on my usual haunts… which is sad cos it was my birthday yesterday and someone wanted my opinion… (Which, by the way… makes me happy so thank you!)

    Ok, so for Union;
Much better, that is for certain… I am still a little off put by the typography, it screams sci-fy to me… But as for the artwork, I really like the artwork!

    And for BW&G;
I have the same feeling, obviously on the typography, I have been throwing some things around in my usual programs… but nothing that I would throw up as a suggestion… And the art on this one, god do I love the art on this one… for once the visuals that the cover shows match what I had in mind while reading the story (As I am guessing that is the white knight from Union)

If you need to contact me for anything, please do at the email attached to this post, if you can’t see it I will send you a PM over at goodreads!

Thanks for the feedback, Kitten 🙂 Without going into details I can say two, linked, things regarding the typography:

    1) I had the logo at the top done up quite awhile ago and the logo/setting name itself tells a story that will be explored in future books. I basically just wanted the typeface to match for the logo and the rest of the cover text.

    2) I had hoped for more subtlety, but if you’re getting a distinct sci-fi feel from the typography…then it still did its job 😉

Any input you’ve got is greatly appreciated! I’m totally doing on-the-job-training here on all of this, and while I can’t accept every piece of advice, I *will* consider them all as carefully as I can. Murphy knows there’s more than one way to skin a cat.

Ok, so until today I’ve been making the Joined at the Hilt Origins novella, Between White and Grey, available for free through pacificcrestpublishing.com. But I’ve now removed it from that venue following my rough three month window and put it up on Amazon.com for $0.99.

Anyone interested in an action-packed, fantasy novella featuring intelligent swords as the primary characters should check the novella out! If $0.99 is too rich for your blood, then I’m running a two day free promotional campaign on Amazon for Monday and Tuesday of this week!

I’ll be lining up another free period for Union as well, but I want to finish the novella’s first promo first. If anyone here has already read the novella, I would dearly appreciate a review being posted on Amazon and Goodreads 🙂

What is the Word on “The Painting”? Realize its probably still in Alpha-testing/editing, but its been 2 weeks with no word…give your fans an update! ^^

Been waiting what seems like ages for that book, ever since I read the sneak-peek at the end of “The Blooding” a year ago. What a cliffhanger, of course even in the Admiral who series you write epic cliffhangers. Agh!, well i suppose the “meek inherit the earth” (channel my meekness self! Be patient,it’ll be ready when its ready, sigh).

Hope you know at least one fans is salivating on your upcoming release, i have always been pumped for your sci-fi, but something about the Witch guard series hooked me.

i just did an update on the other site. But basically, cabe’s working on editing up the Middleton Mission Spin-off and once that’s done he’ll have time to focus in on The Painting.

So hopefully both Middleton and Falon II will be out by the end of next month. With my brother’s book possibly out before the end of this month if all the chips fall the right way. Falon will take at a bare minimum 2 weeks of work once he’s on it but its safer to shoot for 4-5 weeks.

    Hope that helps.

    Bought yar book Vamen.
All I saw was: Vamen publishing books? Find linky.. 5 minutes later: Amazon! 0.01 second later: Bought! 5 seconds later(Page took awhile to load back to book): Oh, the book named “Joined at the Hilt”. Not complaining, just saying I buy before I look what I’m buying when its regarding you two 😀
Gonna read it tomorrow at the gym (Time just flies past when doing cross-trainer/exercising and I flip up the mobile and start reading). (Or I’ll take a “sneak” peak on it tonight and get stuck with it during the night, heh, we’ll see. )
Really looking forward finding out how you write compared to your brother!
I am sure the quality will be Magnificent nonetheless though.

Thanks for the support, Emil! If you hurry you can get a free copy of the novella as well, which is titled Between White and Grey. It hasn’t yet been added to my author page there, so I’ve had to manually search for it each time I want to view the page.

I really hope you enjoy it even though it’s fantasy instead of scifi. I think it’s an interesting story.

No need mate, I’ll just take some money from the cookey jar to pay for the book so I can support you 🙂
Have to admit, I like the way the book is written (Though I dont usually like em’ fantasy) and its a perfect time killer for when hittin’ the motion machine at the gym.
Plug em’ headphones in, turn on em’ mobile and do some mental preperation (“You can do it! Wont fall of treadmill!(Again..) YAH!”) and then just get sucked into the book. (Love that I got Kindle on phone, N’ that I can buy books easily n smooth through mobile, er’ ist awezome!)

Throw em’ books at me mate! Luve em’, need Em’, Want em’!!

When the girls long slender legs and chest line, all the clothes they wear T-shirts such as spaghetti or tank top.
