Admiral’s Spine Uploaded (was Admiral Invincible Part One)

I got a new cover that you can see on the MSP facebook group. I got a new name for the book and I uploaded it to amazon five minutes ago. It should up and available for purchase in the next 12 hours.

Also for anyone who used the pacificcrest publishing site I added another about 17k of new material or about 15% more book. Including a new epilogue that should be fun. I hope you guys enjoy!

Also remember just as important as a book purchase are reviews! So if you got the chance to read the book I could use all your support by way of an honest review! The more reviews the better it is for me.

Sorry, we used to be up on a bunch of peripheral publishing sites but the income was just so low we stopped it. Amazon’s it for right now.

I was wondering if you will ever give a complete list of the ships in the MSP. In the latest book I was also wondering why the admiral never talked to Mc’cruise and what happened to the boarder world delegates with druid?

With McCruise I was trying to keep it to interactions that were story advancing and McCruise wanted to go home and Jason wanted her to go there. There really wasn’t anything earth shaking happening so I skipped over it, especially as at the time when I looked back and wondered about it I was already thinking Spine had been too light on combat in the opening half of the book.

As for a complete list of ships in the MSP…. not sure if we’ll get that or not. Or if so, then when. I listed out the ships in the fleet and the key ships back in the home sector.

With the border delegates I think there are some pretty unhappy politicians cooling their heels in the Belter’s main station orbiting Tracto.

I’ve got my art team making 3D models of most of the ships we’ll see repeatedly in the series, and I’m going to put together a scale chart at some point so we can have a visual of what a Battleship looks like vs. a Medium Cruiser vs. a Corvette, etc..

Still at least a few weeks away on that though, since I’ve only got four ships in the can (Dreadnaught-class Battleship; Hydra/Hammerhead Medium Cruiser; the Furious Phoenix Strike Cruiser; and the SR 70/72 Corvette) with a whole bunch of others needing to be designed and rendered. But once we have the 3D images it makes it really easy to put them together in scenes.

I have seen your comments on Amazon on Paul Honsinger and other comments by “Caleb” on reviews for other writers. I enjoy both of yours writing and I would respect your recommendations. Have you considered mentioning authors you are reading or interesting books you have read on this sight. I would check in here more often if I thought I could find leads for new books here (more traffic on your blog is never bad). I travel for work almost constantly and am forever looking for new reading material.

I never really thought about doing that. My main concern I guess would be in steering someone wrong but if you want my recommendations. Hmmmm.

Just off the top of my head.

B.V. Larson’s Star Force series is good, the whole thing.

Loved Jack Campbell’s whole The Lost Fleet series as well as the semi-Spin off, The Lost Stars series.

David Weber’s Honor Harrington series is a classic. Books 1-5 were great, book 6 was good enough, 7 and 8 were duds I’m not sure worth reading and then books 9-… War of Honor? were decent before he started to lose it again. Don’t trust his spin off series in that universe. In the words of the man himself ‘I finally got big enough to write the books how I want’ i.e. ignore the editors and it shows.

John Ringo’s March series, March Upcountry, March to the Stars, March to the Sea, We Few, etc was great.

David Drake’s Daniel Leary series is good.

Chris Nuttal’s got some good books. the Schooled in Magic series was good, even though we were supposed to write a joint series exactly like (as in magic school/genre we didn’t get around to a deep plot) that together the dink. But he’s an animal that can’t stop writing so that’s fine. Also he has a pretty popular off the charts space series. Some of his earlier work is rough.

Vaughn Heppner is hit and miss but there are some gems in there.

I really loved Fimbulwinter with Daniel Black that was a fun story so long as you don’t mind some hot and sweaty bedroom action from a couple of appreciative witches to their sorcerer savior.

Peter Grant has a decent sci-fi series i I think its called hte Maxwell Saga, beware the Knife book, it wasn’t for me but then its a spin off.

Terry Mancour has the Spellmonger series. Loved it, although beware book 2, he apparently decided it’d be a sweet idea to start the first chapter half way throughh the story of book 2 and chapter 2 at the beginning and then alternated leap frogging through time until the end of the book.

There’s more but there are a few.

Luke I have read all the books you have listed and agree 100% with them!!

Some others I found to be good: Demons of Astlan, Waldo Rabbit, Call of the Wolf (J. P. Nelson), Kris Longknife series.

Waldo Rabbit was fun, Call of the Wolf was good but darker. Kris Longknife was fun especially earlier on but the last two or three books….

Haven’t read Demons of Astlan but I’ll check it out.
